  • Your measurement data typically stays on your device unless you enable Cloud Sync.
  • We do not sell your data to third parties or advertisers.
  • We compute analytics locally on your device whenever possible.
  • You can delete your data at any time.

1. Data We Collect

We strictly limit the data we collect to what is necessary for BodyTape to function properly.

1.1. Personal Information

When you create an account for Cloud Sync, we collect your email address. This is used solely for authentication and account recovery purposes.

1.2. Body Measurements

User-entered data such as waist circumference, weight, chest size, etc. This data acts as the core utility of the application.

1.3. Usage Data

We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (e.g., "90% of users use the Dark Mode feature") to help us improve the app experience. This data cannot be traced back to any individual.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used for one primary purpose: to help you track your fitness progress.

  • Visualization: To draw charts and graphs of your progress.
  • Sync: To ensure your data is available across all your devices (if enabled).
  • Improvement: To fix bugs and optimize app performance.

3. Storage & Cloud Sync

BodyTape operates on a "Local-First" architecture. This means your data is primarily stored directly on your smartphone's internal storage.

  • Offline Mode: If you do not create an account, your data lives and dies on your phone. It never touches our servers.
  • Cloud Sync: If you choose to sync, an encrypted copy of your measurements is stored in our secure database (Supabase) to replicate it to your other devices.

4. Data Security

We employ industry-standard security measures to protect your information.

  • Encryption in Transit: All data sent between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
  • Database Security: Our cloud infrastructure is hosted by Supabase, a leading provider with robust security certifications.
  • Access Control: Administrative access to user data is strictly limited and audited.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Period.

We may share data with third-party service providers solely for the purpose of infrastructure (e.g., hosting, database management, email delivery). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.

You have total control over your data.

  • Access: You can view all your stored data within the app.
  • Export: You can export your measurement history as a CSV file.
  • Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data permanently from within the app settings.
